Lee Roy Selmon has a history that combines family scholarship football and community service. He is the youngest child from Lucious Selmon and Jessie Selmon. They took care of him at their farm in Eufala. Two football. He is one of the three brothers that played for Oklahoma. Three brothers all made All-Americans. The year was 1973. Lucious Jr. Dewey and Lee Roy were starters. Lee Roy was named the top offensive lineman in country by Outland as well as Lombardi Awards. He was awarded two championships as well as 31-1-1 during his three years as the Oklahoma's starting linebacker. In 1975, the National Football Foundation named him as a Scholar-Athlete three times time in the year 1975. Selmon received a diploma in education. Lee Roy spent ten hours every week in volunteer work in his college days. After graduation, Lee Roy settled in Tampa where he spent nine years playing for the Buccaneers. 3 times he was named an All-Pro. He began his business career. His first job was as a Account Relations Officer with First Florida Bank, Tampa. He has worked on the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. In 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce recognized him as one of 10 of the most notable young males. Lee Roy, a 6-2-inch taller and weighing 256 pounds in college as a player, captained his team during the season of 1975. He joined the University of South Florida as the associate director of athletics. In 1988, Selmon was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. The same year, he also was a part of an appearance in the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame and the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The Selmons' parents Lucious and Mary Selmon Sr. have been awarded the Distinguished American Award in 1989 from the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation. Henry Bellmon is the Oklahoma governor that made the award.
