Dolly Parton, who was born in Locust Ridge Tenn. on Jan. 19. 1946 into a very humble family of 12 children at one point, realized that she could escape the hardships of her life by using a vivid imagination. Before she learned to read or write, Dolly Parton was creating her own songs. The first time she picked up a guitar was at age 8 and started performing on a Knoxville Tenn radio station at age eleven. That that same year, Gold Band Records was a small independent record label. As a student in high school She made her mark locally but dreamed about having a bigger stage. After she finished her high school, in 1964, she moved to Nashville. Dumb Blonde was her first single to reach the top of the charts for the first time on Monument Records. Porter Wagoner, a syndicated show on TV in the late '60s, was looking for a singer for his program. Parton was signed to RCA Records and then joined the Grand Ole Opry. She was hired in the year 1967. In 1974, she quit The Wagoner's Show due to the popularity of her solo songs like Joshua Coats Of Many Colors or Jolene was surpassing their joint albums. Parton composed I Will Always Love You for Wagoner after their breakup. It made it to No. The first time in 1974.
